Sadly, cats often get forgotten about when it comes to physiotherapy, however, it is just as beneficial to cats as it is to any other animal.
A good understanding of cat behaviour and patience is needed to be able to be able to work with cats and for them to receive the benefits of the treatment.
I am passionate about progressing feline physiotherapy in Veterinary rehabilitation. My dissertation for my physiotherapist qualification was based solely on cats (and I was the first on my particular qualification to do so!).
I only use cat friendly methods of treatment and will do my best to make your cat feel comfortable and safe during treatment.
Your Vet may refer your cat for physiotherapy, however some common signs your cat may show include:
Some cats find leaving their home environment stressful, I understand this. They also need to be relaxed to receive the full benefit of their treatment.
Therefore, some cats may benefit from being treated in their own home as opposed to the clinic. If you feel this is something that would be best for your cat – please get in touch to discuss home visiting.
During your first appointment, a full history and dynamic assessment will take place. All muscles and joints will be looked at as well as their gait. I will also discuss their previous history and current lifestyle with you.
After the assessment, a plan will be formulated to best help your cat going forward.

More details of the above can be found on the services page. After your appointment you will receive a full report of findings, treatment performed, and plan going forward. This will also be sent to your referring Vet.
Follow-up treatments will continue these treatments as well as making any adjustments depending on your cat’s progress.
The majority of insurance companies will cover the costs of veterinary physiotherapy treatment. It is worth contacting your insurance provider to discuss this.
